    The father of a little boy who has battled cancer is outraged after heartless thieves stole a charity box for children suffering with the same condition.

    Gary Albans had put the Chelsea's Angels collection box on the counter of Tazmania Tattoos after getting help from them for his son Spencer, 5.

    Spencer began fighting a cancer called neuroblastoma in early 2010. He was finally given the all-clear a few months ago but still has to have check-ups every four weeks.

    David Holdsworth has lavished praise on Joe Anyon for not sulking about his exile from Lincoln City's first team as he hailed the goalkeeper's "impeccable" attitude.

    The former Port Vale stopper was in brilliant form in Tuesday night's 2-0 win against Southport as the Imps sealed their first win in 2012.

    Anyon had lost his place to Gateshead's Paul Farman after he was sent off in Holdsworth's first game in charge at Alfreton in the FA Cup.

  • This is Lincolnshire: 24 NHS wheelchair service workers in Lincolnshire face uncertain future

    NHS staff who look after thousands of wheelchair users say they face an uncertain future now the contract for the service they provide could be privatised.

    NHS Lincolnshire confirmed the contract, which expires on March 31, has gone out to tender.

    United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust (ULHT), which currently runs the service, says it is not making any staff redundant and they will all transfer to the new provider once one is appointed.

    What gets me about eating at an Indian restaurant is that I struggle to pick out a curry.

    I can spend what can seem like an eternity going over a menu, struggling to decide what I want. Will I want something with a kick? Do I need something a bit mild? Maybe just a bit of spice?

    And what happens? More often than not I cannot make up my mind and end up ordering a chicken biryani.

    Having both been rejected by the management team of Rob Scott and Paul Hurst, Boston United and Conor Marshall are probably a suitable match.

    This time last year, the 18-year-old was one of the stars of the Grimsby Town youth set-up.

    The Mariners manager at the time, Neil Woods, had promised him a professional contract and the future was looking rosy for the promising defender.

    Excellent GCSE results have pushed Lincolnshire up to an all-time high in the school league tables. Based on pupil achievements in 2011, Lincolnshire has reached 32nd place out of 152 local authorities, marking a climb of two places from last year. This is thanks to 62.2 per cent of pupils in the county who attained five or more A* to C grades at GCSE – including English and maths. Lincolnshire is now four per cent higher than the national average and three per cent higher than last year's results. It also represents a ten per cent increase since 2008.

  • This is Lincolnshire: Suspect in murder of Lincoln pensioner Sonny Grey found dead

    A man arrested on suspicion of being involved in the murder of Sonny Grey is believed to have killed himself.

    The man was arrested with three other men in December. The three men are due to answer police bail in February.

    Romany traveller Mr Grey, 70, died after three robbers attacked him in his home in Westwick Gardens, Lincoln, on October 29 last year.

    They poured boiling water over him before making off with cash and distinctive jewellery. He died from his injuries two days later in hospital.

    Japanese food chain wagamama is on the verge of opening a restaurant in Lincoln.

    The chain, whose mantra is "positive eating", confirmed it is ironing out the final details of a new establishment.

    And the Echo understands its new home will be the Harbour Masters Office in Brayford Wharf North.

    A spokesman said: "wagamama has confirmed they are in the final stages of negotiations to open a new restaurant in harbourside, Lincoln.

    "However, we cannot provide any specific location details or opening date at this present moment.

  • This is Lincolnshire: Young driver caused Lincolnshire double death crash on way to first day at work

    A pensioner and his partner were killed in a car crash caused by an inexperienced young driver who got lost on the way to her first day in a new job, a court heard.

    Don Johnson and Jean Matthews died after 21-year-old Lindsay Smith's car drifted onto the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with their vehicle.

    Lincoln Crown Court was told that Mr Johnson, from Mill Mere Road in Corringham near Gainsborough, was driving Mrs Matthews, who lived at Grantham, to her work as a potato harvester.
